Heating
One fixed heater in the main living room that meets the minimum heating capacity for your region. Calculated per the BRANZ ALF 3.5 method.
Insulation
Ceiling and underfloor insulation that meets the minimum R-value for your climate zone (zones 1, 2, or 3).
Ventilation
Adequate ventilation in all habitable rooms — openable windows plus extractor fans in kitchens and bathrooms.
Moisture & Drainage
Efficient drainage, guttering, and downpipes. Ground vapour barrier for enclosed subfloor spaces.
Draught Stopping
No unreasonable draughts from windows, doors, unused fireplaces, or other openings.
